Mary Nyhan

Mary Nyhan advises property developers, promoters and high net-worth investors on structuring domestic and international property transactions.
Mary has advised clients on property purchases in the US, France, Germany, South Africa, the UK, Croatia, Malta and the Caribbean.
Mary also advises on tax-efficient financing structures for property transactions, property joint ventures and stamp duty issues. She is also involved in a number of Irish tax-based property transactions and Irish collective investment schemes, and has advised on a number of significant hotel transactions.
She has considerable experience in advising high net worth individuals on structuring and managing their personal and corporate tax affairs. Mary also advises on the tax aspects of:
- Corporate reorganisations
- Restructuring
- Acquisitions
- Share and business sales
- Management buy-outs
- Business Expansion Schemes (BES) .
She has advised some of Ireland's key indigenous companies, and works closely with our corporate finance team in advising clients on the tax aspects of corporate finance activity.
Mary plays a key role in liaising with our international tax colleagues in the RSM International network on the tax aspects relating to outbound investment by clients of FGS and inward investment by clients our RSM International colleagues.
Mary began her career in the tax department of Arthur Andersen. She worked as a tax director in KPMG, and in Bank of Ireland she specialised in Irish tax-based and capital allowance property transactions.
She also worked for Mercury Engineering and its shareholders, advising on wealth management and succession planning issues.
Mary joined FGS as a Tax Director in March 2006 and was appointed a partner of the firm in January 2008. She is a Fellow of the ICAI and an Associate Member of the Irish Tax Institute.
