John Miskelly's principal areas of specialisation include business planning, strategic reviews and business transformation.
He works with both public sector and private clients in the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and other parts of the UK.
Public sector
John's public sector assignments in Northern Ireland have included:
- A financial and organisational review of specific cost centres for Northern Ireland Healthcare Trusts on behalf of the Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety (DHSSPS)
- An analysis of the affordability of PPP/PFI for the Department of Education in Northern Ireland
- The preparation of a Strategic Business Case for that Department
He has also been financial adviser to the National Development Finance Agency on a number of PPP projects.
Private sector work
In the private sector, he has carried out strategic reviews of a company in the construction sector and a large manufacturing company, as well as business planning, business transformations and fundraising for a range of clients in the service and high-tech sectors.
John is a Chartered Accountant with over 15 years' experience in the private sector, and has held directorships on the boards of many companies.
He has significant experience in corporate finance and has been involved in the purchase and sale of many businesses. He has also been involved in strategic reviews and restructuring projects for various companies.
Project management
John is skilled in project management methodology, is a qualified PRINCE2 Practitioner and has led major IT, organisational change and process re-engineering projects.
A commercially orientated consultant, he started his career in the communications industry where he worked for the BBC on a range of radio and television programmes.
John joined McClure Watters in Belfast in 2005, following the successful sale of his shares in a local business. He became a partner in FGS shortly after the merger with McClure Watters in 2006.
