Declan Mackin

Declan Mackin has over 12 years' experience providing management consulting services to private and public sector clients in Ireland and the UK.
His areas of expertise include:
- Policy/programme evaluation
- Project appraisal, including economic appraisal and economic impact assessment
- Social and economic research
- Development of local, regional and area-based development strategies
Declan has also provided a wide range of training and mentoring services to clients within the private, public and community/voluntary sectors. These have involved the areas of marketing, strategy and business plan development.
Consultancy projects
Examples of his previous assignments include:
- Special EU Programmes Body - evaluating the peace and reconciliation impacts of the €700 million PEACE II funding programme
- London Development Agency – establishing processes and procedures to appraise projects for funding
- The Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment (Northern Ireland) – evaluating the impact of the Northern Ireland Air Route Development Fund
- Local Councils – reviewing and formulating economic development strategies
- On behalf of the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, appraisal of a range of harbour infrastructure development projects providing improved access to islands off the Galway/Mayo coast
- Economic appraisal of the development of a National Centre for Sustainable Skills, on behalf of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (UK)
Before joining FGS, Declan spent six years within Deloitte’s public sector consulting division, gaining extensive experience of economic and strategy consulting services.
Declan has an MBA, and is a Member of the Institution of Economic Development (Great Britain), a Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and a Chartered Marketer.
