FGS provides economic and policy consulting services to both public and private sector clients.

Where appropriate we draw on the expertise of other divisions within FGS and outside experts to provide an integrated and effective service.

Public sector clients

For public sector and semi-state organisations, our management consultants provide support throughout the policy life cycle.  Our services include:

• Market research and sector-based studies
• Economic evaluations (such as cost-effectiveness analysis, cost-benefit analysis, “Green Book” economic appraisal)
• Process and impact evaluations
• Policy and planning support
• Benchmarking and performance assessment

We provide independent, robust analysis and pragmatic advice, and our team combines experts with a detailed working knowledge of how the public sector works with sector/subject specific specialists.

Private sector and trade unions

For private sector clients, we provide analysis of the impact of economic/social trends and public sector policies, the opportunities and risks associated with their markets and the economic/social impact of their business activities.

• We assist private sector clients, as well as not for profit bodies, trade unions and local authorities, in preparing submissions to government.
• We also advise trade union clients on policy issues, strategy development and pay trends.
